SECTIONAL PROPERTIES CALCULATORS

In stress analysis of a member such as torsion of a shaft, bending of a beam, compression of a column, etc., cross sectional properties are usually used to calculate stress and displacement distributions.

Sectional properties calculators have been developed to calculate cross section area, second moment of area, section modulus, radius of gyration, center of gravity of the cross section and mass of a beam or column for standard profile types and geometric shapes. Profile types and geometric shapes which can be calculated with the calculators are rectangular hollow and solid structural sections, round hollow tubes and solid bars, I, T, C beams (channels), wide flange I beams, standard I beams, American standard steel channels, steel angles with equal legs and aluminum  I beams and channels.
